Marian Catholic Mourns Loss Of Mary Emig, Former Teacher
The former theology teacher dedicated nearly 30 years to Marian Catholic High School.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — The Marian Catholic High School community is mourning the loss of Mary Emig, a former teacher who dedicated nearly 30 years to the Chicago Heights school. She died on June 2, at age 72.
Emig taught Theology, according to Marian Catholic's announcement. She was also active in the school's Kairos retreat program, along with class retreats, and the original anti-racism efforts by Marian Catholic.
"Mary was a pillar of Marian Catholic for many years, and she left an indelible impression on the students and staff she worked with," the announcement states.
Former students took to Facebook to express their condolences.
Emig's obituary was published by Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville, KY. According to the obituary, Emig was born in Gary, Indiana, and resided in Owingsville, Kentucky. The obituary states visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Julie Catholic Church — 77 E. Main St, Owingsville, KY. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the same location.
