Police Blotter: Sleepy Burglar Busted, Jimmy's Gets Violent

Burglar Steals it All
A 22-year-old Chicago Heights man told police sometime between 3:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. someone entered his Scott Avenue home through a window and took several items, including a 50-inch TV, a Playstation 2 console, a subwoofer speaker, a security camera, a gold bracelet, two bottles of cologne and a gold necklace with the faces of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary on it. The items were valued at more than $4,000, according to the report. The man told police he normally leaves the window slightly open for fresh air.
Found a Place to Sleep
Edward L. Burton, 41, of the 18400 block of Exchange Avenue in Lansing, was arrested and charged with burglary to a motor vehicle after a 40-year-old Calumet City man told police he was leaving a business on Wentworth Avenue and saw the driver's side door of his car was open. A witness said he saw Burton rummaging through the trunk of the man's vehicle and detained him for police, according to the report. Police searched Burton and found a knife, along with an iPod, which belonged to the Calumet City man. Burton told police he was intoxicated and had been looking for a place to sleep. According to reports, police also found a bag of marijuana in Burton's backpack while Burton was in custody.

Booted for Texting
A 32-year-old Richton Park man told police he was at Jimmy's Gentlemen's Club when an employee of the club walked up to him yelling "Which one of you (expletive) text my girlfriend?" The angry employee repeated his question before pushing the man, according to the report. The man then punched the employee in his face before being pushed to the ground, with security dragging the man out of the club by his neck, according to the report.
What's Your Name?
Jerry Johnson, 55, with no listed address, was arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer after police saw him with another man standing next to a vehicle near the intersection of Minette Lane and Division Street, according to the report. When asked for his name, Johnson told police his name was Robert, which police found to be an alias. Police also discovered Johnson had an active warrant out from the Illinois Department of Corrections for a parole violation, according to the report.

DUI
Darris L. Browner, 28, of the 1000 block of East 100th Place, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of 14th Street and Aberdeen Street just after 1:30 a.m., according to the report.
