Police: Woman Beaten Behind Her Home, DUI Arrestee Can't Stop

Back Alley Attack

A 27-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was walking in an alley behind her home when an unknown woman shouted "This is my neighborhood, (expletive)." The shouter, who looked to be 20 years old, then punched and slapped the woman in the face before fleeing the area, according to the report. The victim had scratches and bruises on her face as well as her lower back but refused medical attention, police said. Police did photograph the womans injuries.

Trouble Stopping?

Joshua E. Hunt, 21, of the 1500 block of Wayne Drive in Crete, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of 15th Street and Chicago Road for speeding and swerving between lanes, according to the report. When police signalled Hunt to pull over, he came to a stop in the middle of the street before turning abruptly and striking the curb, according to the report. Hunt then idled forward, traveling between three and four car lengths before finally stopping, police said.

Asked for his driver's license and proof of insurance, Hunt provided two insurance cards and dropped them, police said. Asked if he had been drinking, Hunt told police he had a couple of drinks at Jimmy's Gentlemen's Club. After he was taken into custody, Hunt was hit with additional charges of speeding, improper lane usage, no driver's license on person, illegal transportation of alcohol and having a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, police said.

Violent Visit

Jerrell W. Sparkman, 19, of the 400 block of West Hickory Street, was arrested and charged with domestic battery after his ex-girlfriend told police she got a strange visit from Sparkman. The woman said she had been asleep at her home, when Sparkman came over "acting irrational" and saying he knows what she's been doing, according to the report. After refusing to leave, Sparkman punched the woman and choked her, according to the report. The woman faked a panic attack and told Sparkman she needed to go to a relative's house. He followed her there, threatening to kill her along the way, police said. At the relative's home, the woman snuck into the bathroom and called the police, who took Sparkman into custody, according to the report.

Drug Possession

Aaron J. Solomon, 20, of the 1300 block of Washington Street, was charged with possession of cannabis after police already had him in custody with citations for improper walking in the roadway, according to the report. As police performed a search on Solomon they discovered a plastic bag containing 14 smaller bags with a "crushed green leafy subtance" inside, according to the report. The substance tested positive for cannabis, police said.

FRIDAY, AUG. 17

Kamakaze Bicycles

A 27-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was informed by her mother that several juveniles were outside her Park Avenue home intentionally riding their bikes in her car. The car was parked in the woman's driveway as this was going on, according to the report. The woman later discovered two large scratch marks in the rear bumper of her car, as well as a dent below her rear license plate and a large scratch on her passenger door, according to the report.
