As the part of Rediscover Chicago Heights events that are taking place around town, Heights and SouthSTAR Services resident Brian Denton will show off his passion for photography with a display at the Union Street Gallery. Brian Denton, who is developmentally disabled, was chosen to show his photos after he took part in SouthSTAR's 'Dare to Dream' program.
“This is a dream come true for me,” Denton said in a press release. “I love taking pictures of people and different things in Chicago Heights, but also want to take pictures in a bunch of different places around Illinois.”
Several years ago, Denton said he got his first camera from his father, for Christmas. With camera in hand, Denton began shooting various places and people, expanding on his talents.

“I really like shooting people,” Denton said. “A lot of people, like Leanne [a worker at SouthSTAR] and my dad.”
Two of Denton's photos are on display at the gallery, 1527 Otto Boulevard, through May 11, as part of the exhibit. The gallery is open from Wednesday and Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m., Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
