Surgical Instrument Left Inside Woman's Body: Lawsuit

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A woman who was a patient at Franciscan Health Chicago Heights claims people treating her at the hospital left a surgical device inside her body while a procedure was being performed. Milika Milton filed a complaint on the alleged incident in Cook County Circuit Court in April, according to the Cook County Record.

Milton, who is represented by Mark A. Brown of Lane & Lane LLC in Chicago, says the instrument was in her abdominal pelvic cavity while she was undergoing a procedure. The lawsuit indicates it caused her to develop severe injuries.
