Teen Faces Murder Charge In Shooting Death Of Chicago Heights Man

Chicago Heights police have made an arrest in the Feb. 29 shooting death of Donta Scruggs on Normal Avenue.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Donta Scruggs, a 23-year-old Chicago Heights man who was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds on Feb. 29 on Normal Avenue. They boy was arrested by Chicago Heights police and members of the South Suburban Emergency Response Team while executing a search warrant in Lansing on Thursday, March 5 according to Chicago Heights Police Chief Thomas Rogers.

The teen appeared at the Markham Courthouse for a bond hearing. Bond information is not yet available.
