Tornado Touchdown Confirmed in Dyer
A tornado briefly touched down in Dyer Monday afternoon. See video of the funnel cloud as it made its way from Illinois into Indiana.

DYER, IN — A tornado briefly touched down between Sauk Village and Dyer near the Illinois-Indiana border during the Memorial Day storms Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Chicago reported.
Forecasters said the tornado's touchdown was "extremely brief," according to the Northwest Times of Indiana.

NWS confirmed with the newspaper that the tornado swept through a 75- to 100-yard track just before 4:30 p.m. Monday. Marble-sized hail followed into Munster. Forecasters added that the tornadic super cell near Dyer traveled east at 30 mph and was out of the area by 5:30 p.m.

Estimates of damage are not yet known, although the storm left debris and damage in its wake.

Sauk Village residents captured photos and videos of ominous clouds and black skies as the storm passed over U.S. Highway 30 into Indiana.
For Tuesday, the national weather service has issued a flash-flood watch for much of the area. We should see a break in the rain today and should expect showers much of the rest of the week.
