
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A 31-year-old Thornton woman died Monday after a crash involving an Illinois Department of Transportation snowplow in Chicago Heights.
The accident happened just before midnight at Alice and Halsted streets. A 2000 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Katharine G. Bizzotto, of Thornton, collided with a 2015 International truck serving as a snowplow.
Bizzotto was pronounced dead at the scene, Chicago Sun-Times reports. A 57-year-old Markham man driving the truck was transported to Franciscan St. James Health in Chicago Heights for treatment.

An autopsy Wednesday concluded that Bizzotto died of injuries sustained in the crash. Her death was ruled an accident.
The crash is under investigation by the Chicago Heights Police Accident Investigation Unit and the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
