CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A foreclosure sale of the Crystal Lake home where authorities said 5-year-old AJ Freund was killed in April will proceed. According to the Daily Herald, an investor was given authority by a McHenry County judge Tuesday for the sale of the 94 Dole Avenue home, giving the boy's parents, Andrew Freund Sr. and JoAnn Cunningham three months to pay an outstanding mortgage and other fees to prevent the foreclosure sale.

The amount owed was reported to be near $107,000 on July 30.

The City of Crystal Lake, however, filed a lawsuit last month in hopes the home will be demolished. A court conference date has been set for Oct. 9 regarding the property, and whether it should be demolished.
