15 New Virus Cases In Week In Darien: County
The city sees one new coronavirus death in the last week.
DARIEN, IL — Darien saw a 1 percent increase last week in the total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic's beginning, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, Darien had a total of 1,552 coronavirus cases, up 15 from a week before. The week before, the city saw a 1.1 percent increase in cases.
The city's number of local coronavirus deaths, which had remained the same for months, increased by one in the last week, to 19. That works out to less than a thousandth of Darien's population.

Darien's rate of increase in coronavirus cases of 1 percent was higher than DuPage County's 0.9 percent hike in the last week. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population, but only 2.1 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Darien had 71.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 74.4 in La Grange Park, 78.2 in Western Springs, 81.3 in DuPage County, 81.9 in Hinsdale, 83.8 in Elmhurst, 88.9 in Clarendon Hills, 90 in suburban Cook County, 94.6 in Burr Ridge and 102.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,232,900, up 1 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,203 state residents.
Nationally, 29.9 million people have caught the virus, up 1.2 percent from the week before. A total of 543,975 people have died from the virus in the United States.
