Another Low In New Darien Coronavirus Cases: County
The rate of Darien's increase is lowest since June, stats show.

DARIEN, IL — Darien saw the lowest weekly percentage increase in new coronavirus cases since June, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, Darien had 1,441 coronavirus cases, up 20 from a week before, or a 1.4 percent hike. The previous five weeks' increases, in chronological order, were 7.5 percent, 4.5 percent, 3.7 percent, 3.9 percent and 2.7 percent.
The city's number of local deaths from the coronavirus stayed the same in the last week, still totaling 18. That works out to less than a thousandth of Darien's population.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Darien's rate of increase in coronavirus cases of 1.4 percent was higher than DuPage County's 1.3 percent hike in the last week. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population, but only 2.1 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Darien had 66.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 66.7 in La Grange Park, 68.6 in Western Springs, 72.8 in Hinsdale, 75.3 in DuPage County, 76.6 in Elmhurst, 79.4 in Clarendon Hills, 83.5 in suburban Cook County, 87.4 in Burr Ridge and 92.1 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,146,341, up 1.8 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 19,633 state residents.
Nationally, 26.8 million people have caught the virus, up 3.2 percent from the week before. A total of 460,582 people have died from the virus in the United States.
