
DARIEN, IL — Two people were robbed at gunpoint Aug. 6 at a gas station in the 8900 block of Lemont Road in Darien.
The car used in the robbery was stolen from Darien, and police believe it may have been used in other armed robberies in the area, according to Darien police.
Police report all the people committing the robberies are black boys or men, 14 to 20 years old, and they may have been involved in a rash of car burglaries, car thefts and armed robberies in the area.

Darien police have provided the following safety tips to residents:
"Be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to any suspicious people or vehicles. If your intuition tells you something doesn’t feel right get away to a safe location. Never feel embarrassed that your actions might offend someone, do what is needed to keep yourself safe both at home and in public places. Don’t be afraid to call 911, officers are glad to make sure you are safe. Try to keep your property well-lit and stay in well-lit areas when away from home.

"If you are being robbed do not put yourself in danger, it is better to give them your valuables, they can be replaced, you cannot. Report the crime as soon as possible, taking mental notes without being obvious about it will allow you to pass on details that can help catch the offenders at a later date. Please dial 911 to report any suspicious people or activity."
