Darien Accepting Nominations For Citizen Of The Year

Know someone special who has made a difference in 2017? Nominate them for Darien's Citizen of the Year award.

DARIEN, IL — Darien is now accepting nominations for its Citizen of the Year Award. Each year, the award is given to a resident who has gone "above and beyond" to make a difference in the community, according to the City of Darien website.

The nomination deadline is Jan. 2, so if you've got someone in mind for Citizen of the Year, be sure to nominate them as soon as possible.

Below is a list of the city's guidelines for Darien's Citizen of the Year nominees, as listed on the website:

  • Resident of Darien
  • Outstanding voluntary contribution to the City and surrounding areas - diversity of activities, length of service, degree of involvement in the community and impact to the City of Darien.
  • Cannot presently hold a paid or elected position within the City of Darien government. Paid or elected individuals within other local Governments are eligible for nomination.
