Darien Holds Holiday Lights Decorating Contest

DARIEN, IL — Darien will once again hold its annual Holiday Lights Decorating Contest. According to the city, residents that put extra effort into decorating their homes for the season can be nominated by their friends and neighbors for recognition and prizes.

The first place home receives $200, second place $100, third place $50, and fourth and fifth place receive $25. The city said the Holiday Home Decorating committee will also look to recognize neighborhood blocks that put in extra effort in decorating their area. A minimum of 5 contiguous homes will be considered a block in order to be recognized. The top 5 blocks, as determined by the committee, will receive a certificate of recognition for their effort.

To nominate a home or a block, including your own, call Diane at (630) 353-8102 or email dnoverini@darienil.gov. Nominations must be received by noon on Dec. 7. Winners will be announced at the Dec. 17 City Council Meeting.
