Darien Police Issue Residential Burglary Warning

There have been two recent cases, both close together, cops said.

Two separate incidents of home break-ins led Darien police to issue a citywide warning Wednesday.

Feb. 2, according to a release, someone forced entry into a house in the 1500 block of Royal Oak Drive between 12 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Another incident was reported when a house in the 8900 block of Middleton Road was broken into between 10:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Feb. 7.

Darien police didn't specify whether or not anything was taken in the burglaries, but did note that they're close together in distance and both near the Carriage Greens Country Club.

They're continuing to investigate the separate cases, according to the release, but don't have any evidence yet that they're related.

Police also asked for the public's help in reporting suspicious activity and watching out for unusual scenes.

"We cannot do it alone and depend on the help of the public," the release reads. "Making Darien a safe place to live requires a community effort. The 'see something, say something' campaign initiative that we support is all about public awareness, watching out for each other, and the reporting of suspicious activity to the police."
