Darien's Virus Case Increases Stabilize: County
No new deaths are reported in weeks from the coronavirus in Darien.
DARIEN, IL — Darien's increase in new coronavirus cases last week was about the same as the previous week, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, Darien had 1,466 coronavirus cases, up 25 from a week before, or a 1.7 percent hike. The previous week's increase was 1.4 percent. In the five weeks before that, the hikes ranged from 2.7 percent to 7.5 percent.
The city's number of local deaths has remained the same over the last few weeks, totaling 18. That works out to less than a thousandth of Darien's population.

Darien's rate of increase in coronavirus cases of 1.4 percent was higher than DuPage County's 1.3 percent hike in the last week. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population, but only 2 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Darien had 67.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 68 in La Grange Park, 69.9 in Western Springs, 74.2 in Hinsdale, 76.3 in DuPage County, 77.2 in Elmhurst, 80.2 in Clarendon Hills, 84.4 in suburban Cook County, 88.6 in Burr Ridge and 94 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,162,154, up 1.4 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 19,961 state residents.
Nationally, 27.4 million people have caught the virus, up 2.5 percent from the week before. A total of 482,536 people have died from the virus in the United States.
