DGS Girls' Swim Begin Conference Season With a Win

The Mustangs swept the top three places in each individual event.

The Downers Grove South High School girls swim team swam their way to a third consecutive dual meet victory over Proviso West.

In addition to winning all three relays, the Mustangs swept the top three places in each individual event and also achieved some impressive time drops.

Junior Jamie Vacek got the team off to a great start with a season best in diving. Isabelle Genin and Lauren Diddia both achieved significant time drops in the 200 yard freestyle. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hopp swam a personal best in both the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard backstroke.

Freshmen Dorothy Pesci and Sara Parker both swam lifetime bests in the 50 yard freestyle. Freshman Annie Lienart dropped time in the 100 yard free and Sophomore Lauren Diddia added to her improvement in the 200 yard freestyle with a personal best in the 100 yard freestyle as well.

Sophomores Makaila Scheiblein and Isabelle Genin both had outstanding swims in the 500 yard freestyle. Savannah Duax achieved a personal best in the 100 yard backstroke.

Lastly, Gianna Lukacik and Makaila Scheiblein both achieved lifetime bests in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Next up, the Mustangs will face off against another conference foe on Thursday as they prepare to take on Addison Trail/Willowbrook.
