DGS Swim: Lady Mustangs Win Big Against Addison Trail/Willowbrook

The Downers Grove South High School girls swim team continued their winning streak with a fourth straight dual meet victory. The Mustangs defeated ATW by a score of 122 to 54.

Junior Jamie Vacek led off the meet with a lifetime best in diving. Next up, the Varsity relay team of Alyssa Reinholz, Allie Puccillo, Annie Leinart and Paige Vondrasek took first place and the team of Anna Bogdanski, Savannah Duax, Beth Vetter and Kaitlyn Hopp took second in the 200 yard medley relay.

Beth Vetter captured the win in the 200 freestyle along with a personal best in the event by Aoife McGivern. Annie Leinart and Allie Puccillo took the top two places in the 200 yard IM.

Junior Paige Vondrasek swam a lifetime best in the 50 yard freestyle and Junior Alyssa Reinholz took first in the 100 yard butterfly. Makaila Scheblein had an outstanding swim for the victory and a lifetime best in the 100 yard freestyle. Beth Vetter added to her win in the 200 yard freestyle by picking up the win in the 500 yard freestyle as well. Freshman Emma Sayre and Sophomore Aoife McGivern also had lifetime best swims in the event.Alyssa Reinholz dropped time and took her second win of the night in the 100 yard backstroke, while Annie Leinart swam her way to a win and a lifetime best in the 100 yard breaststroke.

The lady Mustangs wrapped up a night of great swimming taking the top two places in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The Varsity team of Nicole Molnar, Makaila Scheiblein, Allie Puccillo and Alyssa Reinholz placed first and Paige Vondrasek, Beth Vetter, Emma Sayre and Anna Bogdanski placed second.On the JV level, the 200 yard medley relay took first with Isabelle Genin, Gianna Lukacik, Gabbie Muzykanski and Sophia Duax.

The JV team took another first place in the 200 yard free relay with Muzykansky, Genin, Sophia Duax and Alyssa Conderman. Genin also placed first in the 50 yard freestyle and in the 100 yard breaststroke. Freshman Dorothy Pesci and Sara Parker also swam lifetime bests in the 50 free.

Muzykansky took first place in both the 500 yard and 100 yard freestyle. Alyssa Conderman placed first in the 100 yard butterfly and Sophia Duax swam a lifetime best for the win in the 100 yard freestyle.

Next week, the Mustangs with take on Hinsdale South as they continue to swim toward their goal of a sole conference championship.
