May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and IPPL is showcasing books and movies that center AAPI creators and characters. Watch the Best Picture nominated Minari (2020), written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung.
Set during the 1980s, Minari follows the Yi family, recent immigrants from Korea, who uproot their lives when the family patriarch, Jacob, purchases a tract of land in rural Arkansas, hoping to build up the barren plot into a prosperous farm and a new place to call home.
Once the movie is over, stick around for a brief discussion of the film, as well as other media that explore similar themes and perspectives.
