Hospital Entrance Remains Open During Oak Street Bridge Construction

As the construction of the Village of Hinsdale’s Oak Street bridge continues, new traffic patterns are in place for patients and visitors to AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale as well as the nearby Hinsdale Family Medicine Center.

All patients and visitors should access the hospital using southbound Oak Street. The Oak Street entrance to the hospital will remain open. Patients coming to Hinsdale Family Medicine Center, 135 N. Oak St., should enter the east parking garage (accessible on Walnut Street between County Line and Oak) via County Line Road to westbound Walnut Street.

The bridge construction began in May. Hospital patients and visitors can continue to enter the hospital from Oak Street in order to access the facility’s self-parking structure, located directly under the Koplin Patient Pavilion.

“We’ve been working with the Village to minimize the impact to our front door,” said Michael Goebel, Chief executive officer at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale. “The main entrance on Oak Street will remain open throughout the construction, so there will be no change in how patients enter the hospital.”

However, with the roadway construction on Oak Street extending to Walnut, the road directly in front of the hospital has been condensed to one lane, with a concrete barrier dividing the street. It may appear as though the main entrance is closed, but it is not, Goebel said. Patients and visitors can access the parking garage from Oak or Elm Streets, and will exit the garage along Hillgrove Avenue, or back out on Elm Street. This part of the construction project is expected to last through late October.
