Indian Prairie Library Hosts Artist In Residence

DARIEN, IL — The Indian Prairie Library will host an artist in residence for the next several months. Dorothy Bury Shaw, a graduate of the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, will be the artist in residence during April, May and June.
According to the library, Shaw has taught art and also freelanced as an editorial illustrator. She is now focused on her fine art, and uses intricate layers of ink, watercolor and colored pencil on rag paper to create her works. With some pieces, she also includes elements of collage, mingling worldly bits of paper with ethereal subjects to create another point of connection for her viewer.
“My work is a living prayer, an alchemy of timelessness and mystic truths, a visual chant, an imagery of song," Shaw said in a release. Her work has won many awards and has appeared in distinguished exhibits.
