Indian Prairie Library’s Upcoming April Programs

Entertainment for All Ages.

As a reminder, Indian Prairie Public Library is closed Monday, April 12-Sunday, April 25. This closure is due to the renovation. Community members can still enjoy a variety of entertainment available on the online program calendar or on-demand programs through the library’s YouTube channel. There is something for all ages.

Come to the village green outside Barbara's Bookstore in the Burr Ridge Village Center for stories, songs, and fun! Barbara's is located at 770 Village Center Dr. in Burr Ridge.

Face masks and social distancing are required. Masks may be removed once participants are safely spaced six feet apart from one another.

Chair Yoga

Wednesdays, Apr. 7-28, 1 p.m.

Adults

Dancing Cranes Yoga teaches this chair yoga class which provides an enjoyable movement opportunity for adults to improve flexibility, joint health, core strength, balance, and the ability to breathe deeply and relax without getting on the floor.

Losing at the Oscars!

The Academy Awards is Apr. 25. In this presentation, Steven Frenzel of Marquee Filmtalks, shares clips and stories featuring movie greats, such as Barbara Stanwyck, Kirk Douglas, and more who never won an Oscar. He also features directors and films including Ridley Scott, Alfred Hitchcock, Tim Burton, The Princess Bride, Singin' In the Rain, Field of Dreams, and many more who likewise didn't score a win.

Earth Day Teen Movie Club: I Am Greta

Earth Day is Apr. 22, so join in an early celebration and watch the 2020 documentary, I Am Greta, a film about the world-famous climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The film chronicles Thunberg's rise to prominence, explores her role in organizing the modern climate advocacy movement, and grants insight into her unique ability to speak truth to power over what many consider an existential threat to humanity. Afterward, join in a brief discussion about the film, and how to engage in the community to create change.

Rachel Carson

Biologist and author Rachel Carson warned the world of the potentially dire environmental impact of chemical pesticides in her best-selling book, Silent Spring. In this living history program, set in 1963, actress and historian, Leslie Goddard portrays Carson as she discusses her childhood love for the living world, her passion for writing, and her work to awaken the world to the beauty and fragility of nature.
