Indoor Dining Opens In Darien

The state loosens the restrictions designed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

DARIEN, IL — Darien restaurants can open for indoor dining Tuesday under the state's new pandemic regulations.

In a news release, the state announced that DuPage, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties moved to Tier 1 restrictions. Under the loosened rules, indoor dining can resume.

The new regulations state that indoor service is limited to the lesser of 25 guests or 25 percent capacity per room. Establishments offering indoor service must serve food, not just drinks, according to the regulations.

All bar and restaurant patrons are required to be seated at tables. And customers are barred from ordering, sitting or congregating at the bar. The state says bar stools should be removed.

According to a news release, the state plans to closely monitor test positivity for the coronavirus, ICU bed availability and the number of people in hospitals with COVID-19. If data moves in the wrong direction, regions could again find themselves in a higher tier with increased measures, the release said.
