Recycle Holiday Lights In Darien
Last year, Darien residents recycled 1,900 pounds of holiday lights.

DARIEN, IL — Darien residents can recycle tangled, old or broken strands of Christmas lights this holiday season. The city said it has once again partnered with Elgin Recycling to offer free holiday lights recycling. Last year, Darien residents recycled 1,900 pounds of holiday lights.
According to the city, all light colors and strand lengths will be accepted. Items include mini-lights (Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords. Recycling began Nov. 12 and runs through Feb. 11.
Residents can bring lights to the Darien Police Department at 1710 Plainfield Road. The bin is located outside, so there are no restricted hours. Leave lights only, and take your boxes and bags home with you for disposal.
