Store Burglary, Walmart Theft: Darien Cops
Suspects break into a local store, triggering burglar alarm, police say.
DARIEN, IL — Last week, Darien police handled cases involving a store burglary, a retail theft, warrants and driving violations. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:
Burglary
- About 2:30 a.m. Feb. 9, police responded to a burglar alarm at Tobacco Nest, 6818 Route 83. The front door was shattered. Store video showed suspects breaking the glass with a crowbar and entering the store. The loss of the damaged door and a box of lighters was $750. The suspects left in an SUV and were last seen headed south on Route 83.
Retail theft

- A man stole three Hewlett-Packard computers about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at Walmart, 2189 75th St. A review of store video showed the man with the computers in his shopping cart. Shortly after, he left through a side door with employees in pursuit. The loss was estimated at $950. The report was made Feb. 4.
Warrants
- Boonie Ford, 29, of Yorkville, was arrested shortly before midnight Friday in the 8700 block of Lemont Road on a Naperville warrant. He was stopped for a window tinting issue. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Semaja Dawson, 27, of Willowbrook, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Cass Avenue and South Frontage Road on a DuPage County warrant charging failure to appear in court. He was stopped because he was driving a car without a license plate light. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

- Dante Sanders, 27, of Palos Hills, was arrested shortly before midnight Feb. 9 in the 7900 block of Lemont Road on charges of driving with a revoked license and speeding. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Jabari Marshall, 41, of Chicago, was cited about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 11 in the 7900 block of Lemont Road on charges of driving with a suspended license and improper lighting. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Kelsey Tibble, 26, of Naperville, was cited at 1:30 a.m. Friday in the 7800 block of Lemont Road on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. She was speeding 57 mph in a 40 mph zone. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Jennifer Guerra, 22, of Chicago, was cited about 3:30 p.m. Friday at Speedway gas station, 10250 Lemont Road, on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without a valid driver's license. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Sergio Ruiz Velazquez, 25, of Woodridge, was cited shortly before 1 p.m. Friday at 75th Street and Cass Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration. He was released and told a court date would be mailed to him.
