Student Who Threatened to Shoot Up Hinsdale South Expelled: School Board
The vote was clear: 6-0.

The Hinsdale South student who in early October threatened to shoot up his high school will be expelled, the school board decided in a unanimous vote Monday.
The District 86 Board’s decision was clear: they voted 6-0, with one member abstaining due to a conflict, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The student has most recently been on house arrest at his home in Darien, where he's been confined since Nov. 4. As a condition of his release from the juvenile detention facility where he’d previously been held, he was banned from the Hinsdale South campus, was fitted with a GPS device and was prohibited from owning weapons or using social media.

The teen, whose October threats of a "Southocaust" spread via Snapchat, was arrested when police found knives, explosives, guns, ski masks, a German World War II Nazi uniform and Nazi flags in his home. He was ultimately charged with eight felonies.
While in juvie, DuPage County Judge Michael Wolfe said, the minor had been a model detainee and a great student, both of which led to his release. Wolfe did, however, make sure the student wasn't released until he completed a full psychological exam.

At the time of the student’s release, District 86 Superintendent Bruce Law said the school board was holding off on a decision about possible expulsion until the student was out of custody.
“We need to understand his status as a students so we can react appropriately,” Law said at the time. “As long as he is in custody, we cannot start our disciplinary proceedings. We need to see if his home detention status means he is still in custody.”
Since the student was officially released to his mother's custody, the school board could make a decision.
District 86 officials held a disciplinary hearing about the case before the school board decided in a closed session to expel the student from school.
