Teacher Charged With DUI In Darien: Cops

She is also accused of endangering the life or health of a child.

DARIEN, IL — Darien police arrested a teacher last week after she crossed over the center median into opposing lanes of traffic, records show.

Abigail Zebraitis, 44, of Downers Grove, was charged with DUI, endangering the health or life of a child, improper lane usage and failure to turn left. She was released and given a date to appear in court. The incident happened about 7 p.m. April 28 in the 1600 block of Plainfield Road, police said.

Zebraitis is a fifth-grade teacher for Blythe Park Elementary School in Riverside School District 96. A woman answering the phone at Blythe Park on Wednesday said Zebraitis was working that day.

Asked about the arrest, District 96 Superintendent Martha Ryan-Toye said in an email that she could not share any information specific to personnel.

Zebraitis did not return an emailed message for comment.

According to her Facebook page, she has worked for Blythe Park Elementary since last year. She previously worked as a fourth-grade teacher for La Grange School District 106.
