Let’s be honest — ‘tis the season to be scrambling. Whether it’s for last-minute gifts, the turkey you haven’t picked up yet or errands you need to run before everything is closed, Christmas is a time when most things shut down and your mind keeps running a mile a minute.
All federal and state offices are closed on Christmas, as are just about all local offices and stores. Still, several chains will stay open at least part of this weekend for the procrastinators among us. We have a roundup of what’s open and closed in the western suburbs for the next two days.

Target: The major chain will have extended hours on Chistmas Eve, but all locations will be closed on Christmas.
Whole Foods: Open until 7 p.m. on Saturday, but closed on Christmas.

Walmart: Should be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, but it’s shut down on Sunday.
Costco: The joint is open until 5 p.m. and closed on Christmas.
Trader Joe’s: The grocery chain doesn’t list any changes in its hours for Christmas Eve, but it will be closed Christmas Day.
Jewel-Osco: Open through 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas.
Oakbrook Center Mall: Open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve for your last-minute shopping needs, but that’s about it. Oakbrook Center is closed on Christmas Day and reopens Monday at 8 a.m.
Chicago Premium Outlets: This place in Aurora is open Saturday until 6 p.m., but closed Sunday.
Gateway Square: This mall in Hinsdale is open until 6 p.m. Saturday and closed Christmas Day.
