Angry Decatur Woman Douses Boyfriend With Gasoline

Woman faces several charges after police say she poured gas on boyfriend's clothes because she was angry about phone calls.

DECATUR, IL — Police said a Decatur woman doused her boyfriend with gasoline before flicking on a lighter, threatening to set him on fire because she was angry he was talking to other women on his phone. According to a police affidavit, The Pantagraph reported the 32-year-old woman is also accused of pouring bleach on her 33-year-old boyfriend, hitting him with an umbrella, and threatening to stab him during the Saturday evening incident.

An affidavit from a Decatur police officer claims the woman had stolen the man's two cellphones and threw them out of her car window, The Pantagraph reported. The news report adds police said the boyfriend told them he demanded she give him the phones, but she refused and dumped bags of his clothes outside, dousing them with gasoline.

Police say the woman told them she bought his clothes and phones with her own money, adding that although she did pour gas and bleach on the bags of clothes, getting gasoline on his shirt was an accident.
