No Traumatic Injury In Infant Death: Macon County Coroner

Officials say a Friday autopsy on a 2-month-old who died during the early morning hours of June 29 showed no trauma.

DECATUR, IL — The Decatur Police Department continues investigating the death of 2-month-old baby they say happened early Friday morning, June 29. Now Decatur reported Macon County Coroner Michael E. Day said an autopsy was performed Friday afternoon, and a preliminary report found no indication of any traumatic injuries.

According to Now Decatur, officials reported the child’s death as still pending as additional testing is underway and may take several weeks before an exact cause of death can be determined.

Herald & Review reported Day confirmed the ongoing investigation on Friday, adding that the infant died at a family home.

Decatur Police Sergeant David Pruitt said the investigation was in the early stages as of 8:45 a.m. Friday.
