Piglet Pileup: Troopers Help Corral 3,000 Pigs After Truck Flips

Police have been working to corral some 3,000 piglets out of a mud puddle near I-70 outside of Effingham.

CASEY, IL — Motorists were advised to use caution on I-70 between Casey and Greenup Friday morning after a crash caused a pileup of piglets to spill into a large puddle of mud. Yes, you read that right.

Illinois State Police were working to help corral some 3000 piglets that were loose in a muddy embankment by the highway near milepost 127 during morning rush hour. Pictures show the piglets near the scene of an overturned semi, seemingly enjoying the mud in which they were scattered.

Facebook users found the piglet pileup inspirational, as a slew of comments showed. They offered, thoughts, prayers, and a healthy dose of comedy.

"I want to see live coverage of the troopers catching all of them," one Facebook user wrote.

Another wrote, "Run while you can, little piggies," in the hopes of encouraging the livestock to escape their future fried fate.

"Wonder if they tipped the truck right in the mud on purpose," another user wrote.

The crash, which took place near Effingham, inspired one resident to indulge in a bit of word play. He said, "That's a lot of effing ham."

At press time, the piglets were not available for comment and may have still been basking in the mud.
