Two Dogs Killed, House Badly Damaged In Decatur Fire
Decatur Fire officials say a fire at a Decatur house resulted in thousands of dollars in damages.

DECATUR — Two dogs were killed during a fire in a Decatur home Saturday night. A fire inspector reported the house a total loss after flames badly damaged the single-story home at 3870 E. Grand Ave., Herald-Review said. The news report adds that Fire Inspector David Gagnon said the fire was ruled as accidental with electrical causes, with damages at $12,000.
Neighbors told the news source they called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the windows and roof of the house around 7:15 p.m. Firefighters had the fire at bay by 7:30 p.m., however a neighbor said firemen reported later that two per Chihuahua dogs had died in the blaze, according to the news report.

The owner was not home at the time of the fire, Herald-Review reported.
