Woman Jumps Out Of Window To Escape Decatur House Fire
A woman driving past a house fire said she saw a woman laying on the ground outside, appeared injured.

DECATUR, IL — Decatur Fire Department officials say a woman jumped out of a second-floor window Monday to escape flames at her South Jasper St. and East Buena Vista Ave. home, The Pantagraph reported. The news report says DFD Battalion Chief Mike McGeehon added the woman was on the ground outside when they arrived, before heavy smoke initially kept them from entering the house.
According to The Pantagraph, a Decatur resident said she called 911 when she was driving at 10:10 a.m. and saw smoke coming out of the house, where she found a woman lying on the ground, covered in soot. The resident said although the woman was coherent, she looked injured and was taken away in an ambulance, the newspaper reported.
As of just after 12 p.m. Monday, roads near the intersection were closed to traffic as fire and Ameren Illinois crews worked in the area.
