21 New Weekly Coronavirus Cases Reported In Deerfield

DEERFIELD, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Friday 3,369 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 22 additional deaths.

As of Friday, there have been 1,902 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Deerfield since the start of the pandemic, according to the IDPH. That marks 21 new cases since our last report on April 15. For comparison, there were 31 new cases between April 8-15.

The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 59,025 confirmed cases and 964 deaths in Lake County. That marks in an increase of 662 cases and four deaths since April 15. For comparison, there was an increase of 857 cases and seven deaths between April 8-15.

The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.3 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,316,091 cases, including 21,777 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 104,795 specimens for a total of 22,113,490. As of Thursday night, 2,112 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 506 patients were in the ICU and 230 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from April 16-22 is 3.6 percent. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 16-22 is 4.3 percent.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 10,802,075. A total of 8,610,478 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 118,741 doses. On Thursday, 136,525 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

The IDPH reports 82,519 people have been tested for the coronavirus across Deerfield (zip code: 60015) as of Friday.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 30 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The last death was on Feb. 20.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 30 deaths are: 80+ (18), 70-79 (6), 60-69 (3), 50-59 (1) and 40-49 (2).

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,138 confirmed coronavirus cases and 553 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

• Whitehall of Deerfield — 67 cases, 3 deaths (closed)/35 cases, 2 deaths (open)

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
