This North Shore town abounds with classic mid-century modern designs. Here are 5 on the market right now.

RIVERWOODS, IL — Located along the Des Plaines River between Deerfield and Buffalo Grove, the community of Riverwoods has a population of less than 3,700 people in about 1,400 households, according to the most recent U.S. Census data. It's also the home of one of the best collections of intact mid-20th Century modernist single-family homes in the Chicago suburbs that have not been demolished and replaced by McMansion-style designs since the 1980s. Several are on the market this summer asking for between $500,000 and $1 million.
Incorporated in 1959, the village of Riverwoods describes itself as an "oasis on the North Shore."
"Try to find the principals involved and then work out your own answers," said Edward Humrich, a self-taught architect of hundreds of customized homes across the North Shore.
