50 New Coronavirus Cases Confirmed Since Last Week In Deerfield
There have been 1,574 coronavirus cases in Deerfield since the pandemic began, according to the Lake County Health Department.
DEERFIELD, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Deerfield has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 1,574 people have contracted COVID-19 in Deerfield since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 50 cases since Patch's last report on Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase of 53 cases between Jan. 14-21.
The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 51,551 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 1,234 cases since Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase of 1,490 cases between Jan. 14-21. In addition, there have been 861 deaths, marking an increase of 35 since Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase of 23 deaths between Jan. 14-21.
The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 97.9 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 35,217 people have been tested across Deerfield (zip codes 60015) as of Friday. That marks an increase of 2,038 tests since Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase of 2,419 tests between Jan. 14-21. There was a 7.3 test positivity rate last week in Lake County.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 27 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The last death was on Jan. 22.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 27 deaths are: 80+ (16), 70-79 (5), 60-69 (3), 50-59 (1) and 40-49 (2).
Deerfield Schools Get $600K In Coronavirus Relief Funding
As of Thursday, there have been 93 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Deerfield, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of two new cases since our last report on Jan. 21.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,810 confirmed coronavirus cases and 513 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. That marks an increase of 110 cases and 17 deaths since Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase of 15 cases and 14 deaths between Jan. 14-21.

- Whitehall of Deerfield — 67 cases, 3 deaths (closed)/35 cases, 2 deaths (open)
These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
