County Sheriff: St. Patrick’s Day Traffic Safety Campaign Results
Deputies issued 101 citations for speeding, distracted driving and other violations – including 30 seat belt citations.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg announces that Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested six people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the recent St. Patrick’s Day traffic safety campaign. Additionally, deputies issued 101 citations for speeding, distracted driving, and other violations – including 30 seat belt citations.

“Even with all of the warnings, we still see people take to the roadways under the influence. While this campaign is over, our sheriff’s deputies will still have zero tolerance for those who risk the lives of others while driving impaired,” said Sheriff John D. Idleburg.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with highway safety partners and both state and local law enforcement in the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign.

The traffic safety effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
