DEERFIELD, IL —District 109 announced Monday the launch of the "Fill The Bin Challenge," a non-perishable food and household goods drive held in conjunction with the district's PTOs to benefit the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry.

The contact-free donation process will take place outside Caruso, Kipling, South Park, Shepard, Walden, and Wilmot Schools from Nov. 9-13 and then again from Nov. 16-20, according to a release. Large bins will be placed near the front entrance. All donating to the drive are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing while doing so.

The challenge is the first event in a larger initiative, 109 Gives Back. It’s a philanthropic avenue to put our district’s motto of "Engage. Inspire. Empower" into action, both in school and in the community. Look for more information about future events to be held during the school year.
