Community members are invited to join representatives from the Deerfield Park District,
Deerfield Park Foundation, Dr. Amy Brodsky, her family and staff and Deerfield Park District
Summer Campers. We are truly grateful for the generous donation made in January 2020 that
allowed the Park District to purchase the structures and want to thank Dr. Amy Brodsky for her
continued work to improve sun protection safety.
In 2012, Dr. Brodsky founded Pediatric Sun Protection Foundation, Inc. (PSPF), a philanthropic
endeavor born out of her passion for skin cancer prevention and desire to educate others about
effective sun protection for children. Dr. Brodsky’s message through The Derm, a medical,
cosmetic, and surgical dermatology group serving the greater Northshore communities,
revolves around the benefits of daily sunscreen application and recognizing the signs of sun
damage and the importance of dermatological care and treatments.

Outdoor sun exposure and sunscreen application is a perfect fit to share with our summer
campers and their families as the park district mission is to provide recreational experiences,
many in an outdoor setting.
Local businesses that will join in the celebration include Nothing Bundt Cakes and Tropical
Smoothie Café that will pass out free samples to attendees. L’Oréal cosmetics will supply trade size sunscreens to attendees and Jeff Bizar of Bizar Entertainment will provide musical entertainment for the dedication.
Additionally, information will be passed out to attendees about The Sun Hero Program which
will debut in the Fall of 2021. The program mission is to raise awareness of the importance of
adequate sun protection in early childhood, increase adoption of sun-protective clothing,
regular sunscreen application and sun-safety habits and motivate change to reduce the amount
of skin cancer in our lifetime. The Sun Hero Program is sponsored by CeraVe & LaRoche-Posay in collaboration with Dr. Amy Brodsky.
The dedication will be led by Len Kasper, the radio play-by-play announcer for the Chicago White Sox, who will share his personal message, inspiring others to understand the importance of sun protection.
