Deerfield Seeking 'Monumental' Art For New Sculpture Garden
The village's public art program is looking for a large sculpture for a small downtown park.

DEERFIELD, IL — Deerfield is looking for loans from local artists for its expanding public arts program. Now in its fifth year, the village is looking for paintings, murals and more to be displayed at Village Hall, the public works facility, the library, park district facilities and other government buildings.
For the first time, the village is also seeking an outdoor sculpture for display in a small park it maintains at the northeast corner of Waukegan and Deerfield Roads. The suggested size is up to 20 feet tall with a 10-foot diameter, including appropriate clearance for people to walk by.
Art will be on display for a full year in public buildings, and new pieces are selected annually. There are currently 16 pieces on display, according to the village. Artwork must be unique, have excellent craftsmanship, an original concept and maintain the integrity of its materials.
