Deerfield Wrestlers Win Medals In 3 Weight Classes At State Final
Three Warrior wrestlers placed in the top five at state championships for the first time in school history.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — For the first time, Deerfield High School placed three wrestlers in the state tournament in the same year. At the IHSA class 3A state final, all three Warrior wrestlers placed in the top five of their respective weight classes, and all three are being pursued by collegiate wrestling programs, according to Coach Marc Pechter.
Junior Cody Goodman (50-5) took third place in the 195 pound weight class, senior Brock Emmerich (50-4) placed fifth in the 160 pound class and senior Jake Reizin (46-5) took fifth place in the 152 pound division.
"All three wrestled with dignity and class as they demonstrated how hard work, perseverance and a little blood, sweat and tears can pay off," Pechter said.
