Looking forward to the State Wrestling tournament, Cody Goodman, finds himself looking to do what only one wrestler - Colton Emerich has done in Coach Pechter's tenure - that is win the state wrestling tournament. Goodman is currently the top rated wrestler at 195 pounds in the IHSA 2A division.
Other Deerfield athletes who will be looking to put up impressive performances in Champaign this February include Junior Rory Perlow and Sophomore Lucio Morgan.
Prior to Pechter's tenure, the Deerfield High School wrestling program had only ever won three conference titles, the most recent of which was in 1968. He hopes to continue the rich tradition of Deerfield Wrestling heading to Regionals and beyond.
