DHS Warrior Dance Team Medals At State Final
Deerfield High School's dance squad earned 2nd place at the 2019 Class 2A Competitive Dance State Final in Bloomington.

DEERFIELD, IL — Deerfield High School's competitive dance squad brought home a medal from last months' state championships, as the Warrior Dance Team placed second at the IHSA class 2A state finals on Jan. 25-26 in Bloomington.
The prior week, the team topped Lake Forest High School in the earlier sectional competition with a score of 95.47 to 93.10 to advance to state.
The Warriors then earned the third-highest score in the preliminary round to qualify to the finals among the top 12 of 30 teams competing on the first day of the final.

The next day, Deerfield's performance improved, finishing with a score of 97.08 in the final round — just a third of a point behind winners Lake Zurich, according to preliminary results from IHSA.

The WDT is a year-round competitive dance performance group as well as a spirit group that performs at football and basketball games, pep rallies and charity events, according to the school.
