Dog Barks Off Would-Be Ruse Burglars: Blotter

Two men attempted entry into a residence, but one was scared off by a barking dog inside: Riverwoods Blotter.

RIVERWOODS, IL — The following information comes from the Riverwoods Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police.   • Andres Charles N. Hansen, 28, of the 3800 block of Cambridge Avenue, Park City, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and was arrested at 10:56 p.m. July 2 near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 11 in Waukegan.
  • Jonathan L. Vallejo, 35, of the 2300 block of Finley Avenue, River Grove, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, open transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 2:41 a.m. July 3 near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 11 in Waukegan.
  • Arshdeep Singh Dhaliwal, 25, of the 200 block of W Lake Street, Chicago, is accused of speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 3:49 a.m. July 4 at Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 11 in Waukegan.
  • Andrew George Brauner, 23, of the 2200 block of Nichols Drive, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance, speeding, and was arrested at 11:39 p.m. July 4 near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 11 in Waukegan.
  • Radames Berrios, 45, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, open transportation of alcohol, speeding, and was arrested at 10:53 p.m. June 26 at Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of July 28 in Waukegan.
  • Michael Golden, 50, of the 7400 block of S Kenwood Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, open transportation of alcohol, speeding, driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 11:16 p.m. June 28 near the 2000 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 28 in Waukegan.
  • Jeremy D. Suarez, 29, of Debary, Florida, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and was arrested at 3:11 a.m. June 13 near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 14 in Waukegan.
  • Susan J. Didier, 67, of the 500 block of Fairview View Drive, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 8:27 p.m. June 3 following a property damage accident investigation in the 2600 block of Lake Cook Road.
  • Luis Alberto Martinez, 35, of the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road, Deerfield, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and was arrested at 12:52 a.m. June 5 near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released on a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 14 in Waukegan.

INCIDENTS

ATTEMPTED RUSE BURGLARY

Police responded to a possible ruse burglary at 1:30 p.m. June 13 on Hoffman Lane. A male came to the front door of a senior couple and told them he was doing tree trimming in the area. He lured them out to the side of the house when they heard their dog barking at the front door. They immediately returned to the front and saw another male walk away from the door and enter what they believed to be a tan colored 4-door vehicle.

The first male, who identified himself as “Arturo," also entered the vehicle and left southbound toward Deerfield Road. He's described as possibly Hispanic, 40 years old, 5-foot-9, thin, beige shirt and a cloth face mask. The second male, who was the driver, is described as possibly Hispanic, 30-40 years of age, 6-foot-2, heavy, cloth face mask.

No entry was made into the house due to the suspect being scared off by the victim’s dog barking at the front door.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Police responded to the area of Lake Cook and Portwine roads at 7:58 p.m. May 29 for a report of criminal damage to property. The drivers of two separate vehicles related that their respective vehicles sustained damages from a projectile while driving westbound on Lake Cook Road in the area. An investigation into the matter continues, according to police.
