Geese Family Shops At Barnes & Noble In Deerfield: Watch Video
A family of geese were seen "shopping" Tuesday afternoon at the Barnes & Noble on North Waukegan Road in Deerfield.

DEERFIELD, IL — With summer right around the corner, it seems like everyone is looking for a good book to read. A family of geese were seen "shopping" at around noon Tuesday (video below) at the Barnes & Noble store on North Waukegan Road in Deerfield.
Reader Jenny Goldstick, a Deerfield native who is visiting her parents from New York City, sent Patch a "news tip" video of the family making their way around the store. Goldstick said it was unclear whether they were just browsing or looking for something specific. She said they were heading toward the music section.
Store manager Kelly Hickey told Patch that it took about 10 minutes to lead the geese out of the store.

"Noticing they were on their way to the back of the store, the music department, we propped open the emergency exit back there in hopes they would go that direction while looking for the phone number to call animal control if they remained in the store," Hickey said.
She said the geese came through the front door as the staff had been propping them open during the nicer weather to "let in some fresh air and add openness to the store."

Hickey added that when the geese first came in, there was some confusion and a little bit of panic about how to get them out, but the staff remained a safe distance and no one was hurt.
