Local Deerfield Team Wins 2019 Conference Championship
The Caruso Middle School 8th grade girls' basketball team are 2019 conference champions.

The Caruso Middle School 8th grade girls’ basketball team won the 2019 Central Suburban Middle School Conference Championship on Monday night defeating Wilmette Junior High School by a score of 30-28.
Earlier in the evening, Caruso Middle School defeated Attea Middle School in a Semi-Final match to advance to the Championship game. The 2019 Caruso 8th grade girls’ 1st place victory follows their 2nd place finish as a 7th grade team in 2018.
Coach Dennis Jensen believes that these consecutive titles constitute the best record for a Caruso Girls’ Baksetball team in more than 20 years. The team of 7 players, #12 Dara Carson, #2 Sophie Engerman, #5 Lexi Kerstein, #3 Nikki Kerstein, #4 McKenzie Reitmeyer, #22 Madison Seward, #1 Reese Shapiro along with Team Manager Anna Catella and Coach Dennis Jensen all rallied to achieve Monday night’s victories. The team boasts a season record of 15-2.
