Lowest Weekly COVID-19 Cases Since October Reported In Deerfield
There have been 1,779 COVID-19 cases in Deerfield since the pandemic began according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
DEERFIELD, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Deerfield has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 1,779 people have contracted COVID-19 in Deerfield since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 15 cases since Patch's last report on March 12. The increase in weekly cases is the lowest since Oct. 2, 2020 when there were 14 new cases. For further comparison, there was an increase of 30 cases between March 5-12 and 28 cases between Feb. 28-March 5.
The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 55,715 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 456 cases since March 12. For further comparison, there was an increase of 116 cases between March 5-12. In addition, there have been 945 deaths, marking an increase of three since March 12. For further comparison, there was an increase of 20 deaths between March 5-12.
The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.2 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,216,090 cases, including 21,022 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 89,817 specimens for a total of 19,389,098. As of last night, 1,120 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 252 patients were in the ICU and 100 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

A total of doses of 5,172,415 vaccine have been delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago. In addition, approximately 414,900 doses total have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities. This brings the total Illinois doses to 5,587,315. A total of 4,375,171 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight, including 359,041 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 99,210 doses. Yesterday, 91,684 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 49,229 people have been tested across Deerfield (zip codes 60015) as of Friday. That marks an increase of 3,027 tests since March 12. For further comparison, there was an increase of 3,086 tests between March 5-12.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 30 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The latest death was on Feb. 20.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 30 deaths are: 80+ (18), 70-79 (6), 60-69 (3), 50-59 (1) and 40-49 (2).

As of Thursday, there have been 98 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Deerfield, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,004 confirmed coronavirus cases and 521 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. That marks an increase of 33 cases and nine deaths since our last report on March 12. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

- Whitehall of Deerfield — 67 cases, 3 deaths (closed)/35 cases, 2 deaths (open)
These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
