Man Accused Of Forging Credential, Harming Patient During CT Scan

A Deerfield man is not allowed to work in the medical industry after police say he performed an unauthorized CT scan which hurt a patient.

DEERFIELD, IL — A 41-year-old Deerfield man is accused of forging his technologist credentials and injecting a woman with the wrong formula during a CT scan in Hoffman Estates.

Omayr Niazi is charged with aggravated battery, forgery and wire fraud, according to Hoffman Estates police.

On November 23, 2020, police said a patient had a negative, burning reaction after Niazi injected her with contrast solution, a type of dye. Niazi then went on to perform a CT scan without training or certification at Hoffman Imaging and Medical Center on West Higgins Road.
