Monthlong Closure Of Entrance To Edens Spur Begins
A detour to Lake Cook Road will be in place through the end of August, according to the Illinois Tollway.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Starting Monday night, the entrance ramp from southbound Waukegan Road onto the westbound Edens Spur is closing for a month, according to the Illinois Tollway.
A posted detour will direct all drivers looking to use the ramp onto westbound Lake Cook Road to enter northbound Interstate 94.
The closures will be in place through the end of August as part of a ramp reconstruction project. Four additional overnight closures will be needed in September to finish the work, according to the Tollway.

All existing mainline asphalt pavement is being replaced and mainline bridges are being repaired or replaced as part of the Tollway's Edens Spur Improvement Project, scheduled to be complete in 2020. The project also includes replacing the Pfingsten Road Bridge repairing the Waukegan Road Bridge and constructing an upgraded barrier in the median on the 61-year-old highway.
The Tollway is coordinating with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Cook County, the Village of Northbrook and local police and fire departments, according to a statement. Drivers were reminded to move over or slow down and proceed with caution when passing any vehicle with activated hazard or emergency lights on the side of the road. A violation of the "move over" law can lead to a two-year license suspension, a $10,000 fine and potential jail time.
