Morris campaign priority: ‘Improving Efficiency and Services’
Glenn Morris is a candidate for Bannockburn Village Trustee in the consolidated election on April 6, 2021.

Bannockburn Village Trustee candidate Glenn Morris has pledged to improve Village services and procedures as part of his campaign priorities.
With only 250 homes in the community, Morris said, it is unnecessary to have so many rules and regulations when it comes to a resident’s own personal property.
“The Village of Bannockburn must do away with invasive and burdensome regulations,” Morris said. “The way you need to have permission for every little thing and the manner in which you have to get permission is unacceptable. This is no way to do business within a small community.”

Morris noted that to make slight changes to your property including removing a dead tree or painting your house is cumbersome and unnecessary. The number of items that require a permit and the permitting process should be reviewed and overhauled.
“We are creating more work for our Village staff and creating animosity with our residents,” he said. “We need to maintain our Village standards but there is a better way to go about it.”

Morris stated that the Village is also missing out on new construction because new home builders want to avoid the red tape that comes with Bannockburn Village Hall.
“We want to maintain the character of our town while being mindful of new construction,” Morris said. “But we also need to be open to opportunities to improve the homes within our community. We shouldn’t let our Village regulations stand in the way of progress that is a fit.”
